Frequently
Asked Questions
Q: What is a Giclée?
A Giclee is a fine art print. Lancaster Studio offers
limited edition giclee of some of Burt Lancaster's work. Our
giclees are printed on acid free watercolor paper using fade
resistant inks. Each print is closely inspected and the color
is adjusted to match the original art. Since our giclees are limited
edition,
they are numbered, signed by the artist and
contain a certificate
of authenticity.
Q: Are giclees available on canvas?
No. Burt Lancaster's original gyotaku art is created on handmade rice paper.
We produce the giclees on watercolor paper to maintain the quality and look
of the original art.
Q: How much is shipping?
Shipping giclees is FREE within the continental United States.
For protection, giclees are covered with tissue paper, rolled
in corrugated cardboard and inserted into a sturdy tube. Please
allow 2-4 weeks for production and shipping, although
10 working days is typical.
Shipping originals requires additional charges. Originals
are mounted on foam board and cannot be rolled.
Q: What is the best way to ship my own
fish to Lancaster Studio for Burt to create my custom piece?
Burt
Lancaster can turn your prized catch into a work of art. To
get it to Lancaster Studio, wrap your fish in a wet towel,
wrap it in a plastic bag and freeze it solid. Wrap that with
newspapers approximately 2" thick. Pack it in a box or very
large tube and ship it overnight on a Monday. Finally, contact
Lancaster Studio to let us know to expect your fish.
Q: Do I need my own fish to have a custom
gyotaku created?
Lancaster Studio has an extensive collection of archived fish
and a network of resources that can acquire a variety of fish
species. Contact
Lancaster Studio and let us know what you're looking for.
